Book Club Baby Shower

I was invited by a friend to join a book club back in July. I fell in love with it and have been going since. It is so great to be able to read a book and be able to share it with a group of women like myself. It has become a great way for me to escape once a month and have a little "me" time.

Last night was another meeting and to my surprise they had a surprise baby shower for me. It was so wonderful. There was a "baby" theme with the food...baby corn and carrots, baby back ribs (vegetarian), baby buns, and baby cheesecake. A few friends that were not in the book club pitched in to help as well with decorations and gifts. What a great surprise. Everyone there decided that they wanted to put their money together and get the girls something they really needed. They ended up getting the car seats that we picked out on our registry. One of the ladies, gave the girls two sweet outfits and some cute little socks. I later found out that she hand crocheted the details on the socks. They were amazing. Take a look. My family is truly blessed by such wonderful people in my life.

My Active Girls

I am now 24 weeks and last night was the first time that Mike was able to feel the babies kick. They are very active little girls that like to play when mama is trying to sleep, eat, read, or anything else that mama thinks is relaxing. :) It is such an amazing feeling and I am so glad I get to share this experience with my husband. It is only a part of the joy he gets to have since he cannot carry them.

I have found that spicy foods are out. As much as I love it, the girls kick me like crazy. I am not sure yet how they know, but I was reading that it is what they hear that makes them move. Apparently, when your stomach does not agree with the food you eat, it makes a bunch of noise and this makes the baby move, babies in my case. Not sure if that is the true reason or not, it sounds good. :)

A Musical Experience

In preparation for church tomorrow, Mike and I were practicing our song we were going to sing. While singing, I could not get through the song without laughing since the girls were kicking away. Anytime I put on music they seem to really move. It will be really exciting to see how we will preform our selection without being kicked through the song. It is such an amazing experience being able to carry these girls and now that I can feel them, it makes the experience more real and well worth the pain. God is good.

Names and 22nd Week Ultrasound

Now that we have told the families on both sides, we want to share the names with you. Our firstborn will be named: Juliana Grace Colburn. Middle name is after Mike's grandma who lives in Tennessee. Our second born will be Olivia Judith Colburn. Her middle name is after my mom, who passed away July 1, 2006. We are very happy to share them with you.

Today was also our 22nd week ultrasound. Baby girls are healthy and growing the same. Both weigh 1 pound each and fluid is equal in each sac. We even got to see one of the girls yawn on the ultrasound. So precious. They were moving like crazy with heart beats of 154 and 158. We will continue to pray for the health of our girls as we progress toward the third trimester. Time is moving more quickly now that I am not sick to my stomach. The pain in my back and shoulders most likely won't go away until they are born. A small price to pay to get two sweet girls. Here are their profile shots.
