Asparagus and Teeth

Being an adult, I have never really appreciated nor liked asparagus. It has that consistency when cooked to look like broccoli, but the smell is so much stronger. When mashed it just makes me gag. With that said, my sweet Olivia has taken to the stuff. With each bite, she makes this mmmmm sound. I sit there and try not to gag. Juliana on the other hand has the same reaction I do. When I put a spoonful in her mouth, she looked at me with eyes that said...Mama, why? How can I make her eat something that I don't even like? So, she got sweet potatoes while Olivia got the asparagus.

Asparagus.

My girls are eating so much more! We go through three jars of food and two bowls of oatmeal a night. That is why I have chosen to get fresh produce as when it is made for the girls, it makes more jars of food. Baby food is so much more expensive when you have two babies. We are trying to introduce them to different items. So far we have tried: greenbeans, mixed vegetables, asparagus, black beans, sweet potatoes, squash, peas, oatmeal, applesauce, melon, bananas, and little lentils. We recently bought the little crackers that dissolve in their mouths. They don't get a lot of  them since they are processed. It took awhile for them to adjust to the cracker on the tongue. Olivia did some gagging, but now she has it down, trying to chew the cracker.

We are feeding more chunky foods as they are getting more teeth. Olivia and Juliana both have 4 teeth each. Juliana has two on top and two on the bottom. Olivia has three on the bottom and one on top. I often catch her touching the teeth together and try to give her something to chew on so she is not grinding her teeth. So far, God has been so merciful to us as the girls have not had very much teething issues. We have not had any fevers and not much crying. We are blessed.

So glad I can share this information with each one of you. We miss our friends and family and hope these little blessings reach your heart as they do ours.

WE'RE CRAWLING AGAIN!!!!

On January 5, 2011 our little baby girl Juliana Grace has started crawling. She was up on her knees two or three weeks ago but she wouldn't move anywhere but backwards. She has now grasped the concept that she can move forward and at a fast pace. This keeps mama on her feet almost all day. We are so proud of our little girl. Olivia is crawling super fast. Yesterday I had her on the floor in the living room and before I even knew it, she had pulled all our music cds off of the lower shelf. I called out her name and she looked at me and smiled. What can you do when you see that sweet face, but smile back. Most of the time, Mike and I let them get into things and crawl over things to explore. As long as they are not into anything that can hurt them, we are ok with it. When the girls go to bed at night, our house looks like a disaster, but it is alright since it gives me a little more exercise.

  Hello Juliana!

 Hello Olivia!

Another great milestone we have achieved is 9 months. The girls are growing so fast. Olivia weighs 17.5 pounds and Juliana weighs 17.2 pounds. We are so thankful for all the clothes they received around Christmas since we have grown out of the 3-6 months. Yes, fortunately the girls are still small for their size and they can fit into smaller clothing. We are currently in size 6-9 months, which are a little big. Besides our growth spurts, Juliana and Olivia say "da da" even though they don't know what it means, and stick their tongues out and spit. Juliana has just realized that she can clap like Mama and is getting her 3rd tooth, as you can probably see in the pictures.
